Uber Direct Question

Ok I’ve a few outlets on Uber Direct. Sometimes it’s good. Other times not so good.

My question is. And I hope someone in Redbox can help.

Say a £20 order is placed. 15 is food 1pound is service fee, 4 pound is delivery.

Uber accept the order. Driver is allocated. But then the driver doesn’t show to collect to order so it doesn’t be delivered.

I go into my dashboard on Uber direct.

Uber Cancels the order.

They refund the food about. Which I then go and refund to the customer by the refund button on their order.

I then have to repay the takeaway as they made the food and it went in the bin.

Why does this bill fall on me? Uber should cover the refund amount. But also cover the cost of the order for the takeaway who which incurred the cost of Making and preparing the food just for Uber not to collect.

Hope all this makes sense.

Hi John,

I believe you could take this up with Uber and see if they will also credit your account with the value of the food. It all depends on your contract with Uber and when in the process the delivery was cancelled, but they don’t refund food by default.

They say they don’t refund more than the order value, which is a bit poop. I understand why, but they should not only refund the order amount; they should credit the food amount on top for their mistake, as we have to refund the customer (which comes from the Uber Eats refund), then out of our own bank, pay the takeaway for the food they used and had to throw in the bin.

Hope this makes sense
