Social Media Posts

Was curious how others handle their social media, currently I don’t make many actual posts, but rely on simply sharing posts that companies make.

But this can sometimes just lead to me repeatedly sharing some more than others if they catch me I’m the right moment and I see the share etc, plus I only try to do it once a day.

So I was wondering if this is not an ideal technique! Do you share? Do you just make dedicated posts? Cheers!

Hi, I think ideally you should post at least once a day and alongside this share a few stories. When resharing other companies’ posts you can share these to your stories from within social media, as stories are designed for the resharing of content and they link back to the original post. When sharing a story you should add some text with hashtags, and also the location sticker is really good for gaining reach on Instagram.

Posts are a bit different to stories and ideally should be your own images, as most social media platforms prioritise unique content. This means if you screenshot someone else’s content and post it as your own post your reach will be lower as the image is not unique. To get around this I sometimes screenshot a few images from the company’s Instagram and use a grid to display images of their food, as then it is not recognised as repeated content.

The best workflow for me is to do all the work on my phone. I keep an album of images I have collected from my outlets and I use a few different apps to create content from them, then I post directly from my phone. Good apps for creating content are Unfold and Video Leap. I also use Facetune’s patch and vanish tool to tidy up messy images (removing a stray chip or a dirty mark on a work surface!).

Another good graphic tool is Canva. There is a great free service with it too.

Thanks both. I do have Canva premium actually, very powerful product!

me too canva premium is brilliant. I also use Vista Social. I got a lifetime subscription from App Sumo offer and it’s great for sharing a post across all social media platforms by posting it just once. It also allows you to schedule in advance and go back over your earlier calendar to duplicate and rehash content.

We like canva here too! Maybe we could start a topic here and post social media post ideas and remind each other when events like national burger week take place and which canva templates suit the event.

Great idea, I always find out about these too late haha.

I use it’s content planner to do most of my posts, just Facebook & Instagram.

I created these engagement posts using Canva my go to place for all my graphics. They are very simple, but they encourage engagement.

Anyone got any other suggestions of similar posts.

They’re cool, I will definitely steal some ideas from that. I had great success with engagement the other night with this one, didn’t even boost it at all.

Just loads of people posting their tea for the evening, commenting on others meals etc. For £5 voucher I thought pretty good.

£5 is for nothing. Do you put a time limit on your vouchers?

Thats a gift of a post.

I think with this one I ended up putting a month on, ill probably do less next time to get it good & gone faster - but yeah definitely try it mate!

My only problem is with long dates. You need to keep checking to see when they are used to pay the takeaway.

I have also been using content pillars to help vary content.

I try to share/post local news, customer reviews of partnered takeaways, engaging posts, and interactive posts. Those are split across the week. I post local partner features daily, showcasing pics of a local takeaway.

I also have a category called ‘promotional’ that contains posts promoting my local service and the benefits local takeaways can get if they partner with us.

This helps keep the feed fresh, reach new people, and gather engagement.
