New: Sunmi Cloud Printer Support

We’ve added support for Sunmi Cloud Printers to Redbox.

Cloud Printing allows Redbox to send orders directly to a compatible Sunmi printer over the internet, without the printer needing to be physically connected to or controlled by a Redbox terminal.

What does this mean in practice?

There are quite a few ways Cloud Printing can simplify an outlet setup.

:cooking: Print directly in the kitchen
A takeaway might have its Redbox terminal at the front counter but need orders in the kitchen. A Cloud Printer can be placed in the kitchen and Redbox can send orders directly to it through the cloud.

:high_voltage: Automatically accept and print online orders
Combine Cloud Printing with Auto Accept and an incoming online order can be automatically accepted and printed in the kitchen without anyone needing to touch a terminal.

This can be particularly useful for busy outlets where staff simply need the order ticket to appear and start preparing it.

:round_pushpin: Print somewhere completely different
Because printing is handled through the cloud, the printer doesn’t need to be on the same local network as the device managing the order.

For example, a central location could receive and manage orders while production tickets are printed at another physical location.

:globe_with_meridians: Recover from temporary printer problems
If a printer loses its connection or runs out of paper, Redbox can queue print jobs in the cloud for up to 24 hours.

Once the printer is available again, the queued jobs can be delivered rather than simply being lost.

:counterclockwise_arrows_button: Reprint an order remotely
If a kitchen loses or damages an order ticket, the order can be reprinted to a selected Cloud Printer through Redbox Management without needing access to the printer itself.

Central management

Cloud Printers are managed through Redbox Management, where you can:

  • Add and configure printers

  • Check connection status

  • Send test prints

  • View and manage queued print jobs

  • Reprint individual orders

Getting started

You’ll need a supported Sunmi Cloud Printer connected to Wi-Fi. Once online, it can be added and configured within Redbox Management.
